National Youth Advocate Program - West Virginia
NYAP’s West Virginia Program has a never-ending need for nurturing, dedicated adults from all backgrounds to become NYAP Therapeutic Foster Parents. We are actively recruiting individuals with compassion, patience and a strong desire to provide quality care for children and youth (teens!) in their home.
West Virginia’s requirements include, but may not be limited to:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- May be single, married, or in a stable co-habitation
- Must be financially stable and cannot be receiving state assistance (ie: food stamps, welfare, or medical cards - CHIPS is okay)
- Must have reliable transportation with documented insurance
- Must provide a drug free and violence free home
- Must be in good physical and mental health
- Must undergo a home safety check
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check
- Must participate in training to obtain and maintain foster parent licensure
Training Requirements
Pre-Service Training: Pride Training Curriculum (27 hours), CPR/First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention
Annual Training: CPR/First Aid, Crisis Prevention Intervention, 12 hours of training per year
