Respite Services
NYAP provides emergency shelter care for adolescent boys in Columbus, Ohio and in supervised independent living in Florence, SC. NYAP provides respite services as an integral component of our flexible continuum of care. Many youth receiving respite services live in a foster home; however respite care may be used as an adjunct support for families struggling with a challenging youth at home.
NYAP also contracts for direct foster shelter care for younger children and respite for youth in community-based programs and not otherwise in foster care placement.
Respite services are designed to provide relief to a youth’s primary caregiver to support the stability and viability of a youth’s placement. Services are provided to children and youth from birth to age 21.
Respite services are provided in licensed foster homes and supervised by Treatment Coordinators, who are licensed or degreed social workers or counselors. Supervision is provided by an independently licensed or advanced degree supervisor as required by COA standards and state regulations.
Respite care services are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day in most NYAP locations.
