Everyone in foster care has a story to tell.

Whether you are a new foster parent, an experienced foster parent or a youth that has spent their life in the system...everyone has a story to tell...in their own words...in their own voice.

If you are thinking about becoming a foster parent, read and discover what other people just like you, are sharing with the world.

NYAP Stories...

Amy & Doug's Story

Becoming foster parents is one of the most rewarding things we have ever done in our lives. We have always had a great love for children and you would think having four of our own would be more than enough to keep us busy. I feel that I went into foster care to give a blessing and came out receiving one.

Other Stories...

Norma and George's Story

After raising two biological sons, Norma and George knew they wanted more children. After that Norma decided becoming foster parents was the right choice for her and George. Now Norma's family has grown to include five more children.

Even More Stories...

Cindy and Rob's Story

We have cared for nearly 100 children of all ages, races, and nationalities over the past 16 years. We are sharing our story in hopes that it will inspire more people to get involved in any way they can. It's about finding the right fit for your family. For us, it was being foster and adoptive parents. For others it might be being a mentor, providing respite care, or helping in some other way.

Diane's Story

I felt it was time to help other families in our community. Foster parenting is about caring for the whole family because these children are in crisis and need all of us to put them first. The work may be challenging, but I am blessed with many rewards too.

Maria and Domingo's Story

Maria admits that being a foster mother to five was overwhelming at first. She and her husband have provided a stable, nurturing home life these children had never known before. Now Maria says that these children will always have a home with them.

Henrietta's Story

As the African proverb says "It takes a whole village to raise a child." I decided to become an active part of the village and devote my efforts to this childrearing process.
