Kids Count Data Book

What is it?

The Annie E. Casey Foundation's KIDS COUNT Data Center profiles the well-being of America’s children and youth on a state-by-state basis and ranks states on different measures of well-being.

Find more than 100 indicators of child well-being, including economic status, health, safety and risk factors. The site includes community-level data in addition to city, state, and national data.

Use the links below to access data for the eight states where NYAP currently operates.  The Safety and Risk Factor data tracks the following information:

Children and Youth in the Juvenile Justice System

  • Children and Youth in Out of Home Placement
  • Binge Alcohol Drinking Stats
  • Cigarette Usage Stats
  • Marijuana Usage Stats
  • Illicit Drug Usage Stats

Follow the steps below to access the Safety and Risky Behaviors data.

  1. Click on the state you would like to see, below.
  2. From the Profiles section, select to view the full set of indicators.
  3. Where it lists the "Sort by Indicators", use the drop down arrow (where it says Demographics) and select Safety and Risk Behaviors.
