About NYAP Indiana
NYAP in Indiana has served children and families in Indiana since 1987. In keeping with our philosophy of maintaining strong local support for our foster parents and team members, the Indiana program is administered through three regional office locations: Indianapolis (Marion County), Griffith/Gary (Lake County) and Scottsburg (Scott County).

Under the leadership of our State Program Director, Barbara VanDevender, LCSW, LMFT, these three offices serve as a base for regional services which include an array of therapeutic foster care options and In-home Family Preservation services for children ages 0-18 and their families.

NYAP also provides a toll- free service reception line staffed 24 hours per day to provide timely referral and placement opportunities for our referral sources as well as assistance and support to foster parents and other stakeholders. You can contact us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-877-NYAP-CAN.

NYAP works cooperatively with contract sources and referral agencies to develop customer focused and fiscally responsible solutions to the needs of children, youth, and families in the communities in which we operate.
The cornerstone to our successful Therapeutic Foster Care (TFP) services with children and families are our caring and committed foster parents and the dedicated NYAP team members who support them. Our foster parents have opened their homes to provide a safe and secure environment to children in their own community who are currently unable to live with their biological family.

Foster parents often find themselves working with biological families in a mentoring or other supportive manner to strengthen the family and allow the child to return home. In cases where children are unable to return to their biological parents, some foster parents have utilized NYAP’s services to adopt their foster child.
