Family Preservation & Reunification Services
Family Preservation Services are provided to strengthen families, reduce risk for youth in their home, help families meet identified needs and to promote healthy functioning and development of family members. Family Preservation activities are designed to build the strengths and skills of all family members and empower self-sufficiency.
The servies are typically provided in family of origin's home but may also be provided in foster homes with the primary goal of reunifying the family and eliminating the need for a higher level of care placement.
A specialized family preservation program, Constant and Never Ending Improvement (CANEI), provides a holistic approach to at-risk youth and families who may have involvement with the juvenile justice and/or child welfare systems. CANEI services target youth with violent, aggressive or defiant behaviors.
Based on individual family need, services may include:
- Mentoring and coaching parenting skills
- Developing and maintaining a safe and stable home environment
- Providing individual and family behavioral health counseling services, including diagnostic assessment and case management
- Positive behavioral support and intervention
- Emotional and spiritual development for enhanced coping skills
- Enhancing youth independent living skills
Services are typically provided by a degreed or licensed social worker with additional support provided by para-professional staff as needed. Supervision and therapy is provided by an advanced degreed or independently licensed supervisor as required by state regulations and COA standards.
